In September of 1964, Beverly Hills Intermediate was the first campus in Pasadena ISD to be built specifically as an intermediate school. W. B. Smith was the principal at the time of the school’s founding. The enrollment was 625 students and considered to be so small that the assistant principal taught classes for half of the day and served as an assistant principal for the remainder of the day. Soon, the enrollment jumped to 1,100 students and then 1,500 students. Beverly Hills was unable to hold all of the students enrolled, so 225 students were sent to a nearby elementary school. Soon, Thompson Intermediate was built to relieve overcrowding at Beverly Hills. In 1976, the enrollment was 900 students.
More recently in 2004, Beverly Hills moved to the old Dobie High School campus. In 2008, they began serving students in seventh and eighth grade, rather than students in sixth through eighth grade, as they had previously. After Thompson Intermediate sustained damage from Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Beverly Hills shared its campus with the school until the damage was repaired. Currently, the school averages around 1,000 students enrolled.
